APPLICATION:
Star-quad cable is a special conductor cable that has special qudrapole geometry that has magnetic immunity when used in a balanced line. Four conductors are used to carry the two legs of the balanced line. All four conductors must be an equal distance from a common point usually the center of the cable. The four conductors are arranged in a four-point star forming a square. Opposite points of the star are connected at each end of the cable to form each leg of the balanced circuit. Star quad cables often use filler elements to hold the conductor centers in a symmetric four-point arrangement about the cable axis.
PROPERTIES:
- Quad Cables are often used with microphone signals in professional audio and hence find its use in test speakers in railway stations.
- Quad Cables are also used in axle counter & signalling
- 4 Quad & 6 Quad Cables with 0.9 mm condcutor size.(RDSO Specification)
Standard:IRS TC 30
CONSTRUCTION:
Conductor
Annealed high condcutivity copper
Insulation
Polyethylene Insulation
Quadding
Four Insulated conductors stranded to form a star quad
Laying Up
The quads are assembled to form a symmetrical core. PE strings are used.
Filler & Core Wrapping
The cable core is fully filled with water resistant compound and wrapped with PE
Moisture Barrier
Longitudinally applied Poly-Al tape
Inner sheath
Black PE compound
Screening & Protection
The cable core with inner sheaths is surrounded by Aluminum Strips/wire which are in turn wrapped with a woven tape impregnated with Barium Chromate.
Intermediate Sheath
Further protection of screening is provided by extruded PVC
Armouring
Armouring with two application of steel tape each applied helically with a specified gap
Outer Sheath
PVC Compound
