Thane
Unit
We are rated as a premier manufacturer of
quality power and specialty cables in India
with the widest product range
 The
Unit was established as Asian Cables &
Industries Ltd. in 1959 and the manufacturing
unit is located on a 20-acre site at Thane.
Phelps Dodge International Corporation,
USA, one of the internationally reputed
cable manufacturers, was our original collaborator.
We were pioneers in introducing XLPE cables
in India and the spirit of innovation continues
to be a major inspiration. We are also pioneers
in compounding for insulants that are used
in Speciality Cables. As a leading manufacturer
of elastomeric cables in India, we have
made remarkable progress in recent years
by using advanced manufacturing techniques
developed through our internal R&D efforts.
We have also launched a special type of
Flame Retardant house wire or flame resistant
house wire cables.
We are ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Certified
company. We are working consistently for
achieving excellence far exceeding customer
expectations and have launched a company
wide TQM program. The unit received the
Certificate of Merit (2nd Place) in the
RPG Quality Awards for 2002 as a recognition
of the Quality initiatives
Mysore Unit
This unit was incorporated in 1982 as Karnataka
Telecables Ltd. with an installed capacity
of 6.25 Lakh CKM of jelly filled telecom.
We commenced commercial production in the
year 1987 at the this unit, which is located
on a 27-acre plot (near the world famous
Brindavan gardens). The unit was promoted
jointly by Karnataka State Industrial Investment
development Corporation and Asian Cables
& Industries Ltd.
The unit has had the distinction of designing
and producing the entire range of Telecables
for Department of Telecommunications and
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd from 10 to
2400 pairs.
The unit also manufactures Optic Fibre
Cables and has an installed capacity of
FKM 440,000.
Ours is the first Telecom Cable manufacturing
Company to have been awarded "Approved
Inspection Scheme" by the DoT whereby
inspection of cables is done by our own
personnel, and not by DoT.
TQM practices are well entrenched involving
all our employees. Kaizen and SGA activities
are in full swing through which significant
improvements towards better work practices
have been achieved. We were awarded the
RPG Quality Award for the year 2001. In
the year 2002, our TQM Team won the Certificate
of Merit for the Best TQM Team Award (RPG
Quality Awards).
Silvassa Unit
 This
unit is our most recent venture located
near Vapi - Gujarat. It was set up in March
2000 with an investment of Rs. 10 Cr. It
manufactures primarily low tenson power
cables. The unit embodies the spirit of
quality consciousness and constant improvement.
Silvassa plant is already ISO 9001 and ISO
14001 certified.
Raebareli
Unit
Incorporated in the year 1983, as UPCOM
Cables Ltd, this Company with an installed
capacity of 6.25 Lakh CKM of jelly filled
cable was jointly promoted by Pradeshiya
Industrial & Investment Corporation
of UP Ltd. and Ceat Investments Ltd. 
Upcom started commercial production of
PIJF (Polyethylene Insulated Jelly filled)
cables in March, 1987 and subsequently increased
installed capacity to 12.5 Lakh CKM in January,
1994 and 18 Lakh CKM in 1996-97. The present
capacity of the plant is 21 Lakh CKM.
Our product range includes underground
telephone cables with solid polythene, cellular
and foam skin polythene insulation (with
conductor sizes 0.4 to 0.9 mm) from 10 to
2400 pairs. Since its inception, we have
been meeting stringent quality and delivery
requirements of our valued customers like
DoT, MTNL, and Railways and for various
other projects.
The company has been constantly stressing
on quality, process control and customer
service and as a result has earned many
laurels.
