RPGCL believes in being socially responsive and making meaningful contribution to the society in which it operates. Going forward the company has established a policy to allocate 1% of its PAT towards CSR activities.
Community partnerships of RPGCL are aligned with Group level CSR initiatives that focus on Child Education and Environment.
RPGCL has confirmed participation in focus group activities of “AKSHAR” for child education and SAKSHAM…The Last Mile” for grooming & confidence building programs for students. In Line with the group CSR thrust of Akshar & Shaksham, RPGCLhas committed one day per employee of volunteer work for this group thrust area.
Necessary frame work and road map is currently under preparation along-with group CSR team.
Perception of Community
The community perception around the Units at Thane and Silvassa is gathered through frequent interaction with neighboring industries, social service organizations, individuals from surrounding industries and visiting people. However no formal survey of the community has been carried out by the Company so far but is proposed in the current year to record and formalize society interactions and expectations.
In addition to alignment with Group CSR initiatives RPGCL, as a responsible corporate citizen, has takenfollowing initiatives:
Employment Opportunity for Local Community
As a policy, company attempts to employ local people. The representation of local population in the workmen category is over 70% in both the units. Contract labour, as and when required is sourced locally from nearby areas. The company has contributed to the economic growth of the areas where the Units arelocated by providing employment.
Equal Opportunity Practices
The company believes in providing equal opportunities and at the time of recruiting no discrimination is done by way of Gender or Religion. Women are encouraged in certain service functions like Secretarial, HR, Quality, Design, Marketing and IT.
Involvement in the Community Activities:
With an aim to encourage people to stop using Tobacco and thus reducing negative health effects of smoking, 31 May is celebrated as World 'No-Tobacco Day'. Celebrations included a lecture on the negative effects on health from tobacco and counseling by RPGCL team members to residents of nearby villages.



Celebrating World Environment Day on 5th June 2009, tree plantation drive was undertaken at 20 nos. “Ashoka” saplings were planted by RPGCL staff. The saplings were also adopted by the staff to be looked after to ensure survival & growth. As a part of celebration, a lot of other activities like lecture on environment, on the spot quiz, slogan & poster competitions were organized.


Annual Blood Donation & Free Eye Check up Camp are organized by RPGCL plants in association with local NGOs. Objective behind this initiative was to draw the attention and create awareness among the local about voluntary blood donation and encourage donors. Event marked the honouring of more than 150 individuals from all across the city / vicinity. Total 97 persons in which 44 employees from RPGCL donated the blood. Simultaneously 124 person's eyes were checked in eye check up camp. Newspapers (The Times ofIndia) and other Local media and news channels covered and appraised this event in their news.




RPGCL is involved in administering the oral drops to children under the age of five. As an intensive Pulse Polio Campaign Programme on National Immunisation Day – 7th Feb 2010, RPGCL organized a Pulse Polio Immunization Camp jointly with the local NGO to ensure that the territory continued to remain Polio free.


RPGCL regularly organizes First Aid and Fire Fighting Training Programmes for the employees and the residents of the vicinity. Nearby factory employees are also invited for participation.


Employees donated around 90 blankets to the children of “Swami Vivekananda Balakashram, Thane” managed by a local NGO.

One day Plant visit by Management students from LKT Business Management School, Thane. In addition to exposure to the production process, the students were given classroom lectures on Power & Cable Industry business prospects. One Day plant visit for MIT Pune students at RPGCL Thane, with plant visit and business exposure.



RPGCL responds to the needs of various Relief Activities by contributing generously both from the company's resources and employee's voluntary contributions. Example - Andhra Flood Relief Fund, Bihar Relief Fund etc.
Internal Measures
The environmental policy of the organisation explicitly states its commitment to all applicable national and local regulations through documented procedures and it is ensured that there is no infringement of the same. There has not been a single major non-conformity during any surveillance audits by Underwriters and Laboratories Inc.
The Company is committed to the laws of the land and there has been no infringement of law and its compliance is continuously monitored. The Licenses are revalidated ahead of expiry dates.
The Company, as a policy, insists that all Company vehicles and those owned by employees are regularly checked for pollution and noise levels, every six months, to prevent nuisance to public at large.

The Company has a system of periodic internal surveillance and conforms to all the regulatory environment audits. The levels of all pollutants are below the specified norms set by Statutory and Regulatory Authorities.
